Meet Claus. Only a few months old, Claus skipped crawlng and walking and went straight to running. How is that possible you say? Well, using all his brightly colored toys, gadgets, and some inspiration from the television screen, he crafted his own robotic legs.
Quite a smart kid I say. You would say that too if you knew he won the local 5k.
Often I illustrate more than one version of the same theme. It gives me more time to think about the story. Here is another one of Claus, this time a little closer, but with more determination in his eyes:
Both versions of Claus were painted in watercolor and ink on
2.75"x3.75" amalfi cotton rag paper.

You did such a great job on the topic as always!!!!
This is great!
Love that Claus...marathon's probably not too far away. He reminds me of my daughter, Brooke. She had similar determination...and the same pacifier!
This is fun. And you got two topics in (perhaps three, depending on how fast he can walk!)

Thanks Ellen, tommy, juliemc, and idiothead!
Yes, I made the robot a little spotty since I missed my chance last week! And yes, idiothead, the robot legs he made are pretty speedy! He's quite a determined kid!
What a clever idea...a lot of moms would love this!
thanks bron! I bet moms would be way more relaxed, and their backs surely wouldn't ache as much!
I should add that Claus' inspiration to make these legs was heavily influenced by his favorite animated characters: Wallace & Gromit.
This is sooo good!! I love it.
Wonderful watercolors and ideas. Your style is unique. Bravo!
There's something very delicious about your watercolor technique...the colors are very beautifully blended to create such natural, organic looking shades. This robotic baby is wild! I like the top version best...those legs are wonderful:>
